Description
The face shield is an individual protective barrier – a personal protective equipment (PPE) that reduces the risk of droplet infections in situations where close contact (1–2 meters) with other people is unavoidable. In addition to standard hygiene measures, it provides a physical barrier against airborne viruses and helps prevent infectious aerosols from reaching the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
Personal protective face shields have been recognized by the Estonian Health Board as suitable isolation measures among personal protective equipment. Similar products are widely used in the medical sector and by companies wishing to provide additional protection for their employees’ health. Typical users of face shields include healthcare workers, as well as food service staff, support personnel, and providers of essential services who regularly come into contact with new people.
